Ingredients
- 1 package Dinner rolls I like using potato rolls
- 4 cups Vegan ground beef
- 1 medium Onion finely diced
- 2 tablespoon Butter
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon Basil
- ½ cup Vegan Sour Cream
- ¼ cup Nutritional Yeast
Melty Cheese:
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- ¼ cup Soy milk may need more depending on brand of cheese used
- 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
Topping:
- 1 tablespoon Vegan butter melted
- 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Saute onion in butter over medium/high heat until onions are translucent and cooked all the way through.
- Mix in spices.
- Mix in vegan ground meat and let cook until done.
- Turn off heat. Add in sour cream and nutritional yeast. Mix until well combined. Set aside.
- Cut the sheet of dinner rolls in half using a long bread knife. You now have a top sheet and a bottom sheet of bread. Place the bottom half on a baking sheet.
- Place the vegan ground mixture on the bottom half of the bread. Pack it down gently, but firmly so it doesn’t crumble out. Set aside.
- Prepare your melty cheese sauce!
- Add butter to a small pan over low/medium heat. Let it melt
- Once butter has melted, add in milk and cheese. Cook until melted all together. Stir consistently. (approx. 8-10 min)
- Drizzle cheese over vegan ground mixture. Place the top sheet of bread back on top.
- Brush top of bread with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake at 350 F. for 12-15 min or until buns are as crispy as you like.
- Cut along edges of the rolls before serving (as seen in video). Enjoy!
Substitutions
If you know how to make the recipe fit a certain diet, let the reader know here. Don’t fake it – only provide guidance on topics you have actual experience with.
- Lettuce – instead of ice berg lettuce, you can use romaine lettuce or spinach
- Bun – use gluten free buns instead of white bread buns to make this gluten free
- Vegetarian – the beef hamburger can be replaced with a plant-based burger to make this vegetarian
Even if your reader doesn’t follow a specific diet (eg. gluten free), they may have friends or family that they’re cooking for that could use this. This is also a great idea to link out to another blogger with a similar recipe that fits a different diet.
